Israeli police raided a clandestine laboratory that was manufacturing counterfeit CDs last week. It is the largest illegal burning laboratory in the country to be closed, with the police raid following a lengthy investigation by IFPI Israel. Anti-piracy experts were acting on information about a commercial vehicle that was being used to collect raw materials and distribute the manufactured CDs. The vehicle was traced to a farm in Moshav Ygal, near Ben-Gurion airport, which was then placed under observation before the raid was mounted. Inside the warehouses on the farm, officers found 80 CD burners, six laser printers, a packing machine, tens of thousands of inserts and other raw materials. Police arrested two suspects last week. Under a court order issued today, the two will be remanded in custody on charges of counterfeiting and money laundering until a final decision in the case is made. |
