Officers of GDCOC and the Haskovo District Directorate of Police seized 4 servers, films and software freely made available to over 5 thousands ISP’s subscribers during an operation yesterday.
The illegal distribution of copyright content by a local ISP was cut off during a combined operation executed by officers of the Sector “Combat against Organized Crime” of Haskovo and operative officers of the Ministry of Interior of the Republic of Bulgaria.

Conforming to the GDCOC Strategy and the relevant decisions within the Council on IP Protection at the Ministry of Culture, the police operation was conducted on the territory of Haskovo District Directorate of Police, aiming at intimidating intellectual piracy.
The raid was based on a signal by the anti-piracy unit of the Bulgarian Association of Music Producers /BAMP/ that had identified illegal distribution of copyright content – music, films and software.
An ISP has effected illegal activity using FTP servers and spreading protected content in the Haskovo city network.  Further to the raid, the collected materials were submitted to the Supreme Cassation Prosecutors’ Office and preliminary investigations have been initiated under art. 172a of the Criminal Code in the Regional Prosecutors’ Office of Haskovo.
The competent officers of both GD “Combat against Organized Crime” and the Haskovo District Directorate of Police proceeded jointly to investigation, with the permission of the Regional judge of Haskovo under the direct supervision of the Deputy Chief Prosecutor, Mr. Kamen Sitnilski.  
During the operation 4 FTP servers with unlicensed 6,5 TB of music, films, software /equal to 13 000 CD-Rs/ and freely made available to over 5 000 ISP’s subscribers were found and seized.
Details on the police operation were presented at a press conference in the Haskovo District Directorate of Police. The press conference was attended by Mr.Yavor Kolev – Head of the Cyber Crime Unit at GD “Combat against Organized Crime”, Mr. Ivan Stoianov – Haskovo District Prosecutor and Mr. Krasimir Yanev – Head of the AP team of the Bulgarian Association of Music Producers.
The ISP’s criminal activity is subject to a preliminary investigation initiated by the Haskovo District Directorate of Police.
